My 31st Birthday

Did I really just type that? 31?!? That sort of depresses me. Oh well no use dwelling on something you can't change. After all the sickness and being cooped up at home ALL I wanted for my birthday was for Jeff to watch the kids so I could have a day all.by.myself. So that's what I did. Thank you Jeff! I left at 9am and headed to Einstein's Bagels where I enjoyed a cinnamon/sugar bagel toasted with honey almond cream cheese and a hot chocolate. Delicious. Then I had a hair appointment followed by some shopping, lunch at Wahoo's, and a mani/pedi. I didn't get home until 5pm and it was glorious. No one needed me. I got to spend the entire day thinking only of myself. Hmmm, I'm sounding so selfish aren't I? Well, sometimes moms need a selfish day.

That night Jeff took me to dinner at Steakhouse 10, our favorite restaurant in Colorado. We started with cheese they set on fire and then you spread on crusty bread followed by the filet minon topped with crab meat and a delicious sauce, a side of asparagus and a baked potato. Then for dessert they brought me a free creme brulee. Oh man was I in heaven! This was definitely a splurge sort of place, so thank you Jeff for treating me so nice on my bday! I LOVED it!!!

Now if I can just figure out how live life without getting any older.

Valentine's Day & some sickness

Yes, I realize I'm a little slow. We have had so much sickness this month...really ever since our DC trip that I am just behind on a lot of things. After the erps from DC Jack caught hand, foot & mouth disease. Lovely. Poor kid had the WORST sore throat. Then Laides got pink eye. Awesome. Followed by Jack & Addie getting horrible colds/fevers which for Adelaide resulted in RSV, many nebulizer treatments & spending a full week on oxygen. I was fortunate to stay healthy through it all and able to care for my sick kids, but just as the last one got better I got very sick. In the midst of my horrible cough I pulled a muscle in my stomach so every time I coughed it felt like someone was ripping open my stomach...not to mention I'm uber pregnant so needless to say coughing resulted in lots of laundry needing to be done. You get the picture. :) Isn't pregnancy lovely? haha When I tell Jeff these realities of pregnancy he often comments with a resounding, "I'm SO glad I'm a dude."

Okay, enough of the sob story and on to the fun...well not too much fun since we had a house full of sick people on Vday. We spent most of the day at home (Jack went to pre-school and had a party so that was fun for him) and that night went to Costa Vida for dinner and celebrated with Tres Leches and chocolate dipped strawberries. It was a low key family affair, but I didn't mind. Sometimes you need those kind of holidays.

Thoughts

It's 3:15pm and I'm pretty sure I haven't brushed my teeth yet today. I know I haven't brushed my hair (which is intent on falling out lately, but that's another story). I'm coming down with whatever my kids have and my head and throat hurts and I can't stop coughing. Now I know why my kids have been so whiny the past week. It's no fun being sick.

Addie is on my bed getting a breathing treatment and watching a show. Jack is next to her. She's gotten really good at getting the treatments. She sits up and takes it like a woman. She doesn't pull at her o2 anymore either. I've been amazed at how quickly she's adapted to all this treatment stuff. Although now that she's started feeling a little bit better she wants to play, but can't go very far because she's tethered to her o2 tank. However, she doesn't think to go back the way she came...she just keeps trying to go forward as her face begins to contort from the cord pulling on it. She eventually screams and I rescue her...moving the tank closer to her or following her around carrying it. I'm pretty much over constant o2. I shouldn't complain though...it's a million times better than being in the hospital, which is where we were last year when she had RSV. Home is so much nicer and we all sleep better.

With that all said Addie is calling for me.

Don't judge this post. I didn't proof read it. Total stream of consciousness.

PS RSV is lame.
