Some of you may remember this post back from May of 2009 all about my goal of reading all the books we own. Well, I did quite well accomplishing this goal until around November of 2009 when I got pregnant. You know the drill...sick, fat, tired then the baby comes and forget about it! So two years later I'm back and recommitting myself. I'd like to clarify that while the pregnancy did derail my goal a bit that's not to say I haven't read a book in two years. I have. Just not as much as I was. When I started the goal I had about 20 books to read & I now have about 10 so I made it half way through. Okay, onward and upward.
I just finished Water for Elephants and just in time to have a GNO to see the movie. I liked it! As my Mom said after she read it, "There are some naughty parts...so just know that," but bar those I thought the storytelling was excellent. I found myself genuinely caring about Jacob, Marlena, Walter & of course Rosie! They are complex characters with sad pasts that look out for each other. I also enjoyed learning so much about the traveling circus. A world that I am totally unfamiliar with. I LOVE the casting for the movie so I'm really looking forward to seeing the story come to life on the big screen.
Now I need to peruse my bookshelf and figure out what book I'll read next. I'm so excited!

I have been wondering if that book was worth reading. I think I will read it and then go see the movie!
Didn't love the book because of the "naughty" parts. I like how the movie just edited those parts to a PG version...my mind likes PG versions much better. The movie was pretty true to the book...I just wish the director would have captured more of Jacob as an older man more...those were parts of the book I really enjoyed. The acting was good (especially the guy who played August...I thought he was a great actor). You will enjoy the movie! Way to go reading more books...I dream of the day I get to read more!
This is on my to read list!
Finished the book, lets book a BNO date!
I relate with the excitement of choosing another book. Such a fun time! I haven't read this one. It sounds like maybe I'll just watch the movie.
Can't wait to see the movie! Sounds like a good one.
