Okay the sickies are in bed, Jeff is in Utah & I have a quiet house all to myself. What to do? I think I'll take that trip down memory lane now. Feel free to skip this post if you don't like memory lane...as for me...I love it!
Since I turned 30 this year (which you know, is a big deal) I thought I'd take a look at the birthday's in my 20's. Here we go...
For my 20th birthday I was studying abroad in London. My actual birthday fell over the week I was in Ireland doing my "live in" experience with a family in Belfast. I don't have any pics from the exact day, but here is one of me at the Giant's Causeway in Northern Ireland.
Here is a card that my host family gave to me.
Here's one of my host mom, Jill, and her daughter, Viv.

(These are pics of pics I took from my scrapbook.)
For my 21st birthday some of my friends (Luke, Jessica, Wendy, Janae & Jake) woke me up early and made me breakfast. Then I had to head to SLC to work in the Coca-cola games tent for the Olympics all day. That night my friends were going to meet me in SLC and we were going to go out dancing and celebrate, but through out the day I came down with the flu and instead headed straight home from work and crashed in my living room. Wendy & Ryan were nice enough to stay in watching movies with me. One of the bummers of having a winter birthday is sickness often seems to be around.
These are the roses Jeff had sent to me. He was on his mission (coming home in a few weeks) but still remembered to send me flowers. So sweet! (I'm guessing Rosemary had a hand in this. :))
For my 22nd & 23rd birthdays I can't find any pictures! My 22nd birthday would've been the first year I was married and we were living in that tiny apartment above Marilyn's garage, but I haven't a clue what we did to celebrate. My 23rd birthday would've been our first year living in our condo in Provo, but again no pics = no memories. This is a good reminder why we HAVE to take pictures! Seriously it was less than 10 years ago and I have no clue what we did. So sad. If any of you can remember please fill me in (Jeff, Wendy I'm looking at you.)
For my 24th birthday we snuck down to St. George from Provo for the weekend and spent my bday with my parents. Since my Mom's bday is on Valentine's Day we made a joint effort and made this heart shaped chocolate torte with raspberries together to celebrate both of our birthdays.
For my 26th birthday we were supposed to be in Phoenix (I'm seeing a trend) for my friend Karissa's wedding, but there was a huge storm in NYC and our flight was canceled. We couldn't get a flight out all weekend and missed the wedding. BUMMER! So rather than sitting in our apartment all weekend moping we got in our car and took a last minute road trip to Amish Country and Philadelphia. We went out to eat and celebrated my birthday in Philly, but for some reason I don't have a picture of that. I do have this picture of the Magnolia cupcakes the Bowens brought me when we got back.30th Birthday!!!
to be continued...

I love memory lane! You did well with pictures and memories! Blogs are a great way to document important things in our lives. I hope you have a great celebration in Phoenix!
*I'm so glad I've gotten to continue to celebrate most of your birthdays with you in your 20s, continuing on from celebrating them all with you up until then. Dad and I were there last year in Phoenix with you and will be this year, too. Yahoo!!!!
You look like a baby at 20! Seems like a lifetime ago (at least for me).
This was a fun post, I love looking down memory lane too!
So many comments.
1. Did not know of this Godiva tradition. Fun!
2. Oh Ballard brothers! You were so hot and so fun.
3. You mean MORE THAN ONCE plans to dance on your bday have been canceled? We must make this actually happen some year. Remember when we were going to go dancing in CA but ended up having a dance party in our bedroom instead? Maybe in Cody...? :)
4. I have NO memory of me, you, Ryan watching movies the night of your 21st bday. None.
5. Yeah, what's up w/ sick & bad weather ruining bday plans? Sucky winter bdays...
6. Not sure if it's 22nd or 23rd (thinking 23rd b/c pretty sure I was married too...) but me & Jessica took you to M Grille and to a movie... what was that movie??? W/ Debra Messing... wedding movie... The Wedding Date? My clearest memory of that night (besides Jessica laughing hysterically during the movie) is sitting in the car (me driving, Jessica shotgun so I guess you were backseat?) and talking forever in a parking lot. Anyone else amen this? So I remembered one of them for you! Do I get a prize?!
7. I feel like for YEARS I've been buggin everyone to take a million pictures so we can remember. So glad you are such a picture blogger now and will support the campaign of "let's take a picture"! Not that you were ever my strongest opponent, but you know what I'm sayin'... YES we need the memories documented!
8. What a babe you are in 24! Tanning back then?
9. I have a clear memory of Jeff & me in JCrew in Vegas getting into the biggest debate about whether or not a white cardigan is a "staple" in a woman's wardrobe.
This year will top them all my friend! Top them ALL! (and addendum to previous post: yes, our 30s will be so different from our 20s and the sick way you rang them in couldn't be more symbolic!)
Love you birthday girl!
Love all your updates! I totally missed your birthday and have felt lame about it ever since. Happy Late Birthday!
Love the trip down memory lane and my favorite thing to see is your hair. How do you get it to grow so fast? I swear every other year it is like short, long, short, long.
You are a hottie, happy 30th!
Super fun! I was at Giants Causeway on my 26th birthday, lol!
